Navajo yarn hat

Lisa brought home five skeins of yarn in five colors, spun on the reservation. Then, she split the five skeins into five balls and she and four of her friends ended up with the equivalent of one full skein, but five colors: black, white, red, gray, and brown. Because I was afraid I would run out of yarn, I chose a random color pattern. So, here is my Navajo wool hat.

Tea Leaves Quilt

I should have posted this sooner. It is 100% done. The tea leaves were hand appliqued and everything else was done by machine. The leaf squares were great for travel, and went to Rome with me.

The top is done and ready for quilting -- based on Crabapple Hill's "Which Witch's Boot", it's reduced in size, a few colors changed, the blocks are rearranged, and the outside border is deleted. I'm delighted!

The College Sewing Kits

Do boys need sewing kits when they go off to college?
Probably not, but a mother has high hopes.  At least
they might use the safety pins  - or not!

Close up of quilted holly leaves and berries.
I'm not a fan of the washout markers.
It worked fine on 3 test samples but not on the final product.
Much washing and ironing to have it look wrinkled rather than quilted.

America the Beautiful

This is my version of Julie's flag quilt. It is 26" x 44". Lyrics to America the Beautiful are embroidered on the white stripes. The stars are machine blanket-stitched to the blue field. Just in time for the Fourth of July!  It is bound and hung up.
